After the recent furore over Maxis’ plans, the telco has announced on Friday an upgraded plan with a new DataPool feature for MaxisONE customers.

The data quota upgrade will benefit more than one million customers, and the upgrade will be permanent with no additional cost.

On top of the upgrade, the company also introduced the new DataPool feature that allows users to share data with their family or on other devices.

DataPool can also be used overseas and it includes unlimited internal calls when roaming. The MaxisONE World plan of RM38 per day still applies.

Supplementary lines cost RM48 per line with an extra 5GB in the DataPool for every line. Customers can use the MyMaxis app to check for the upgraded data, and to assign the data to each supplementary line.

Other add-on introduces are the extra 5GB for video streaming if they choose to stream videos on iFlix, ErosNow, Viu and Hopser. Users will need to register for these services via Maxis to enjoy the extra free data, and two months free subscription.

The MaxisONE 98 plan that previously came with 1GB data quota will be upgraded to 5GB per month, while the 128 plan with 3GB will be upgraded to 10GB, 5GB to 15GB andlastly, plan with 7GB will be upgraded to 20GB.

The announcement was made by Maxis CEO Morten Lundal (pic) at Menara Maxis on Friday morning.

Morten Lundal, CEO of Maxis, assured that the free quota upgrade would not hurt network quality as the company has invested so much to modernise.
