Budget 2017: BR1M To Continue

Budget 2017 BR1M

The 1Malaysia People’s Aid programme or BR1M will continue under Budget 2017 as the Government is committed in easing the burden of the lower income group, said Second Finance Minister Datuk Johari Abdul Ghani.

The programme was initially devised by Prime Minster Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak in 2012 as part of the Government’s effort to help the lower income group cushion the high cost of living.

Johari added that, besides BR1M, Budget 2017 would also continue to address other areas including affordable housing under the 1Malaysia People’s Housing Programme (PR1MA), as well as the welfare of the Bottom 40% (B40) and Middle 40% (M40) income groups.

Johari also mentioned that there is a need to look into the gap in terms of obtaining financing for the total purchase price of properties as banks are not providing the full financing that people want.

Wrapping it up, he emphasised, however the allocations under Budget 2017 would be based on the Government’s anticipated revenue.
