The Works Ministry has announced that all highways in the country will be toll free on 8 and 9 February 2024 for the Chinese New Year holiday.
This announcement applies to all Class 1 vehicles, which covers private vehicles on the road. The toll free travel will begin at 12:01am on 8 February (Thursday) and end at 11:59pm on 9 February (Friday).
In the announcement, posted to Facebook, the Ministry said that this move is to reduce the burden on Malaysians traveling to their home towns for the celebration. It also helps cover those visiting relatives for their reunion dinners held on Chinese New Year eve.
According to the post, this move will cost the government roughly RM42.99 million.
