GXBank, Grab To Set Up Regional Centre Of Excellence

Malaysia’s first digital bank, GXBank has joined hands with Grab, South East Asia’s leading superapp to take the tech talent in Malaysia to the next level, which is in line with the Malaysian government mandate.

GXBank is currently on track to establishing a Regional Centre of Excellence (COE) for Shared Services in Malaysia, less than six months since their inception.

Aimed to be fully operational by the end of this year (2024), the COE aims to serve Grab-led digital banks, and financial and operational services in the region. It will also offer almost 400 roles focusing on core banking activities such as banking operations, technology and risk management among others.

The establishment of the COE makes up part of GXBank’s RM1.5 million investment into Malaysia for the next five years, with the aim of positioning the country as a central hub to revolutionise the digital finance and financial landscape of the country.

GXBank aims to cultivate talent in Malaysia

According to GXBank’s Chief Executive Officer (CEO), the COE is part of GXBank’s larger goal to not only be a digital bank, but also to cultivate talents that will enhance Malaysia’s digital banking industry.

“Building on our current more than 400-strong team, we want to harvest and nurture the rich talent we have in Malaysia. We aim to create a dynamic environment in which they can challenge the status quo, raise the overall competencies and create best-in-class practices in the digital finance industry,” stated Pei Si.

GXBank and Grab to support government’s KL20 mandate

In alignment with KL20’s focus on building the tech talent pool in Malaysia, top talents from Grab and GXBank will be working with Endeavor Malaysia to help mentor selected local, high-potential entrepreneurs to accelerate their growth.

The programme will task Endeavor Malaysia’s ScaleUp and TEGAS: Scale Sarawak Programme to oversee personnels from both companies working with local start-up entrepreneurs to hone their leadership skills, develop business and marketing expansion strategies, and harness the power of innovative technology and data.
