What To Do If Your eMadani Claim Is Rejected

Earlier this week, the long awaited e-wallet credit initiative eMadani was finally available for redemption by qualified Malaysians.

However, it didn’t take long for Malaysian netizens to flood social media with complaints regarding eMadani, especially regarding rejected claims from multiple platforms.

One of the main complaints was due to confusion regarding the eligibility requirements of the eMadani.

One X user tweeted saying that “Why wasn’t it made clear that students aren’t eligible for eMadani? And if that’s the case, why was student even an option there?”

Another also tweeted that “A lot of people are complaining about their rejected eMadani claim. This is dangerous for the current government as people tend to hold grudges over things like this.”

So if this happens to you, what should you do? Let’s have a look.

What to do if your eMadani claim is rejected

If your claim has been rejected, your next step will depend on which platform you applied in. Let’s have a look at what you should do for each and every platform.

Touch ‘n Go eWallet

If you’re claiming the eMadani initiative through TnG eWallet, all you have to do is submit a request disputing your rejection.

How you do this is simply by submitting a request right here, select ‘eMadani’, and select ‘claim rejected’ as your support type. You can also make the process smoother by attaching screenshots of your rejected claim.

With Shopee, the process is quite straightforward. If you’re certain that you meet the requirements, all you have to do is contact their support team to dispute your rejection. Just fill out the form and choose “eMadani Unable to claim”, and you’re on your way.\

Just like TnG, you can also attach your screenshots here to make the process easier.

If you’re claiming your eMadani credit on MAE, then things might get a bit confusing for you here. Maybank’s eMadani FAQs section is just a copy of the Ministry of Finance’s FAQ document, so it doesn’t mention anywhere how to raise a dispute with MAE in case of rejection.

However, in their terms and conditions documents, it is stated that ‘should you have any dispute relating to the operation of the eMADANI, MAE by Maybank2u and/or Scan & Pay function, please reach out to Maybank Group Customer Care at 1300-88-6688 or write to us at

So in this case, your best shot is to do exactly what is said.

If you’re using Setel to claim your eMadani credit and your claim has been rejected, Setel urges you to submit an appeal through the Setel app, as written here.

Who is eligible for eMadani?

If you have been rejected, just check first that you are eligible before proceeding with the other dispute processes.

Malaysians who are eligible to participate in the eMADANI programme are:

  • Malaysian citizens; and
  • Aged 21 years and above as of 2023; and
  • Recipients of Sumbangan Tunai Rahmah (STR) based on record as of 7 November 2023 OR earning an annual income of RM100,000 and below based on the Inland Revenue Board’s (IRB) record as of 15 July 2023.

You should also be aware that if you are recipient of eBeliaRahmah, you will not be eligible for this eMadani credit.  Another important note is that there is an expiry date.  The eMadani credit  must be utilised by 11.59 p.m. on 29 February 2024.
