Popular Instagram model and influencer Siew Pui Yi has filed a civil suit against her ex-business partner for allegedly defrauding her of RM4.3 million between 2022-2023.
The civil suit was filed online yesterday through her lawyer, K. Mahendren, at the Penang High Court.
According to news reports, Ms Puiyi as she is known online, stated at a press conference that she initiated the civil suit against her former business partner, a man known as ‘Mentos’ due to him allegedly cheated and deceived her into handing him over approximately RM4.3 million.
She stated that the 29-year-old man was a director in her company, PY Empire Sdn Bhd, and he was asked to settle the company’s tax arrears with the Inland Revenue Board (LHDN) last year.
However, Siew claimed that the man instead ran away with the money. The claim also included accusations that the man had also misappropriated funds from her company since 2022.
In the press conference, Siew also revealed that the man was introduced to her by a friend back in 2019, and was told that the man is a man of high integrity and can be trusted.
Meanwhile, Mahendren stated that a police report was lodged on the matter in October last year, but no prosecution or updates on the case were made by the police.
