Malaysia Sixth Best Place To Retire

Malaysia best place to retire

Malaysia has been ranked sixth in the Annual Global Retirement Index as among the best destination to retire for expatriates.

According to International Living (IL), a retirement and relocation magazine, Malaysia edged out the likes of Portugal, Nicaragua and Spain, due to its 878 idyllic islands, stunning beaches and untouched rainforests.

The index also highlighted the low cost of living, high quality healthcare and its multicultural population as among the reasons the country is a suitable retirement destination.

“The food is not just first class, but world class — and the shopping in Kuala Lumpur and Penang, where I live, is to die for,” Keith Hockton, IL Malaysia correspondent was quoted as saying.

This is not the first time Malaysia has been ranked as a favourable destination among expatriates. Kuala Lumpur was ranked ninth in Asia in the recent QS Best Student Cities 2017.

Malaysia also ranks as one of the world’s top “medical tourism” destinations attracting more than 700,000 healthcare travellers in 2013, according to the Malaysia Healthcare Travel Council.

Typically, the country’s cuisine, natural forests and modern infrastructure with world-class connectivity are often cited as reasons Malaysia remained a favourite among the rest of the world.
