Stargazing

Prefer the night sky over anything else? Head to an open space away from city lights for a night of stargazing. You can join stargazing groups where people bring telescopes for you to peek through. Or just simply lay out a blanket and enjoy the view of the stars.

There are amazing stargazing spots at Kuala Kubu Bharu, which can be easily reached by KTM Komuter. But keep in mind the cost of accommodation, hotels or motels in the area can cost up to RM150 per night. If you plan on driving, you can calculate the rough petrol and toll cost using this site.

Picnics

Picnics are a great way to have fun, especially if you enjoy being in nature! Have a picnic at free scenic parks, like Perdana Botanical Gardens, Titiwangsa Lake Gardens or head over to the beach if you enjoy basking in the sun and relaxing to the sound of the waves.

Just find yourself a nice cozy spot, set your mat and enjoy the ambience. Consider packing some light snacks to munch on, refreshing drinks and maybe throw in some games too like frisbee or a kite if it’s a windy day. It’s like having a little outdoor party with snacks, drinks, and fun games!

Yoga

Yoga may not be everyone’s idea of fun, but it sure is a great way to improve your physical and mental health. Atilia Haron, singer and songwriter, conducts free yoga classes at KLCC Park every Saturday at 7:30am. If you don’t drive, you can easily get there by taking the LRT.

But if you want to sleep in a little longer on the weekends, you could totally do yoga by yourself. Try doing it outside where nature is all around you. There are easy guides on the internet that show you how to do it step by step. Yoga helps your body get flexible and your mind feel happy, making you feel great inside and out.

They provide life jackets and paddles, but still make sure to follow their safety guidelines. Here’s a tip: Bring an extra set of clothes because you WILL get soaked. However, say you can’t be in the water for some reason, you can B.Y.O.B. (Bring your own bike) because only facility members can rent bicycles at RM 10.60 an hour.

Just use whatever materials you have. Look around your home, and you’ll probably find things like old magazines, scrap paper, buttons, or even fabric scraps that you can turn into something cool. Hosting a potluck night isn’t just a fun way to spend time with your friends and family, it’s also a really great way to save cost.  As the host, you’ll just need to make sure that there’s enough space for everyone to comfortably enjoy their meals. Set up tables, chairs, and a designated area for each dish.

With dinner sorted, you don’t have to worry about feeding your guests. What you may have to worry about though are leftovers. To minimise food waste, set up a “Leftovers Station”. Guests can take home balanced food, making sure that you’re not stuck with any leftovers, plus it provides your guests with extra meals— it’s a win-win!

This isn’t for the faint of heart, but perfect for those seeking a spine-tingling adventure. Get together with friends or family, dim the lights, and let the eerie tales unfold. To crank the spookiness up a notch, download free ghost apps. These apps can add a whole new level of creepiness to your night.

A word of caution: Trespassing is illegal, so choose your spooky adventure spot wisely and always be respectful; nobody wants an angry ghost haunting them! The key here is to be creative with what you already have, so you don’t have to spend a lot to have a fun, spooky and affordable night.

Have a spa night

There’s nothing better than an at home pamper session. It’s like giving yourself a mini spa day without leaving home! Put on some nice jazz music, use a face mask, and just chill. You can even get creative with your face masks! DIY it using ingredients you may already have in your kitchen, like yogurt, turmeric and honey.

As you let the face mask work its magic, take this opportunity to give yourself a digital detox, it’s a perfect opportunity to refresh both your body and mind. So, put your phone and other gadgets away and enjoy some screen-free time. Think of it as a mini vacation for your brain!
