Manager, Legal & Regulatory

Reporting to the Group CFO the Manager, Legal & Regulatory is responsible for the Group’s legal & regulatory function in support of the company’s overall strategy and the efficient and effective execution of this strategy to assist the company in meeting its objectives.


Job Description

Key Responsibilities:

    Overall
  • Active member of Management team
  • Working with Group CEO / EXCO to develop overall Legal & Regulatory strategy to assist Group in achieving its objectives; develop supporting initiatives to achieve Legal & Regulatory strategy, and overseeing the successful implementation of such initiatives;
  • Legal
  • Provide expert and strategic legal advice to the senior management team
  • Support Country Managers / Commercial managers / HODs in negotiation with business partners and vendors;
  • Review legal agreements and Identify potential legal/commercial issues, research options and provide solutions
  • Draft, negotiate and solidify agreements, contracts and other legal documents to minimize risk and maximize company’s legal rights
  • Engage with external counsel as / when required

  • Develop regulatory strategy for Malaysia, Indonesia, Singapore and Indonesia markets in the context of overall corporate strategy
  • Work with Group management/country heads to develop a strong working relationship with national regulators
  • Manage all licensing activities required for the Company’s operations across including, ensure valid operating licenses are in order and up-to-date and keep up-to-date with changes in legal & regulatory laws
  • Support business development activities looking at regulatory requirements for new markets

Skills & Requirements

  • Degree holder in Law (L.L.B) or a combination of law and other disciplines, from a recognized university;
  • Excellent command of English, both verbal and in legal drafting/ writing skills;
  • Work experience of 7 – 10 years, either in an established legal firm or corporation;
  • Ability to analyze and interpret laws, regulations and government policies, and proposing approaches and solutions that best match commercial interests;
  • An ambitious self-starter, able to work independently in a fluid/ fast moving environment;
  • Demonstrated ability to influence senior stakeholders;
  • Results oriented, motivated, committed, resourceful and flexible in work approach to adapt to changes.
