{"id":67187,"date":"2025-02-28T12:05:42","date_gmt":"2025-02-28T04:05:42","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.imoney.my\/articles\/?p=67187"},"modified":"2025-02-28T12:05:42","modified_gmt":"2025-02-28T04:05:42","slug":"top-10-medical-insurance-claims","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.imoney.my\/articles\/top-10-medical-insurance-claims","title":{"rendered":"Top 10 Medical Insurance Claims Revealed By Finance Ministry"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">During a recent Parliament meeting, the Ministry of Finance (MoF) revealed the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.parlimen.gov.my\/files\/jindex\/pdf\/JDR26022025.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer dofollow\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">top ten illnesses<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> most claimed for medical insurance. This list includes pneumonia, influenza and fever.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Deputy Minister Lim Hui Ying also said that in some instances, the treatment cost for those using pay-and-claim insurance was cheaper than those with guarantee letters.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">She also mentioned that a lack of transparency in treatment costs means that a more comprehensive study is required to understand the charge differences. This was said in response to Sim Tze Tzin (PH-Bayan Baru) during the minister&#8217;s question and answer time in Dewan Rakyat.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The top ten most claimed illnesses includes:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">pneumonia,\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">spine-related issues,\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">digestive system problems,\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">heart diseases,\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">joint and ligament injuries such as dislocations and sprains,\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">acute appendicitis,\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">viral infections and influenza,\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">other respiratory system problems such as bronchitis and upper respiratory infections, ENT-related diseases,<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">fever<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Lim added that the government has acknowledged concerns raised during the public hearing sessions of the Public Accounts Committee (PAC).<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">She also said that the government currently had no plans to consider a national health insurance scheme.
