Malaysians travelling in private vehicles can expect to enjoy free tolls from 12.01am on 29 October until 11.59pm the following day ahead of the Deepavali celebrations on 31 October, 2024.<\/span><\/p>\n

Minister of Works, Datuk Seri Alexander Nanta Linggi, said the toll exemption applies to all types of vehicles at all toll plazas. The only exceptions to this rule are the toll plazas at the country\u2019s borders, namely at the Sultan Iskandar Building (BSI) toll and the Tanjung Kupang toll in Johor.<\/span><\/p>\n

According to a recently released <\/span>statement<\/span><\/a>, the two days of toll-free travel is expected to cost around RM38 million, which will be borne by the government and paid to all toll concessionaires.<\/span><\/p>\n

“This free toll aligns with the core principles of the unity government, which focuses on welfare and compassion, helping to ease the cost of living for the people while strengthening the culture of unity among people from all ethnic groups in the country,” the statement said.<\/span><\/p>\n

Nanta also advised the public to plan their journeys to ensure smooth and safe travel as they make their way to their hometowns or other destinations during the Deepavali celebrations.<\/span><\/p>\n
