And does your RM10 have the same (or at least similar) purchasing power as it used to?<\/p>\n<p>To figure this out, we went back to the same three Ramadan bazaars and compared the prices of the same foods that were bought back then.<\/p>\n<p>And to make things interesting, we\u2019ll add in what the prices in 2015 would be if it was adjusted to today\u2019s inflation just so you can get an idea of the disparity in increasing costs.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Taman-Tun-Dr-Ismail\"><\/span>Taman Tun Dr Ismail<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-62385\" src=\"https:\/\/static.imoney.my\/articles\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/03\/26154606\/TTDI_Bazaar2.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"597\" height=\"448\" srcset=\"https:\/\/static.imoney.my\/articles\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/03\/26154606\/TTDI_Bazaar2.jpeg 1080w, https:\/\/static.imoney.my\/articles\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/03\/26154606\/TTDI_Bazaar2-300x225.jpeg 300w, https:\/\/static.imoney.my\/articles\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/03\/26154606\/TTDI_Bazaar2-800x600.jpeg 800w, https:\/\/static.imoney.my\/articles\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/03\/26154606\/TTDI_Bazaar2-768x576.jpeg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 597px) 100vw, 597px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Over the years, the Taman Tun Dr Ismail (TTDI) bazaar has grown bigger and more popular than ever as the destination spot for folks to get their Ramadan grub in the Kuala Lumpur region.<\/p>\n<p>While the mainstays of <em>nasi ayam, murtabak,<\/em> and thirst-quenching drinks such as fruit juices, <em>bandung cincau<\/em>, and <em>air mata kucing<\/em> are present, it\u2019s the addition of newly popular foods such as burritos and street churros that elevates the selection of mouth-watering delicacies.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-62388\" src=\"https:\/\/static.imoney.my\/articles\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/03\/26155006\/TTDI_Burrito.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"704\" height=\"413\" srcset=\"https:\/\/static.imoney.my\/articles\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/03\/26155006\/TTDI_Burrito.jpeg 1080w, https:\/\/static.imoney.my\/articles\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/03\/26155006\/TTDI_Burrito-300x176.jpeg 300w, https:\/\/static.imoney.my\/articles\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/03\/26155006\/TTDI_Burrito-800x469.jpeg 800w, https:\/\/static.imoney.my\/articles\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/03\/26155006\/TTDI_Burrito-768x450.jpeg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 704px) 100vw, 704px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>But those mouth-watering delicacies come at an eye-watering cost as an 8-pc street churro can set you back RM7 and one beef burrito costs RM15(!) with an add-on of a cheese\/egg costing you RM3.<\/p>\n<p>A lot of the new foods will be way beyond our budget of RM10. But what about the foods bought nine years ago?<\/p>\n<div class=\"block\"><div><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Here are the prices back then:<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Beef Murtabak &#8211; RM4<\/li>\n<li>Beef Kebab &#8211; RM4<\/li>\n<li>Kuih Koci (3 pieces) &#8211; RM2<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">2015 price adjusted to 2024*<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Beef Murtabak &#8211; RM4.64<\/li>\n<li>Beef Kebab &#8211; RM4.64<\/li>\n<li>Kuih Koci (3 pieces) &#8211; RM2.32<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Here are the actual prices:<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Beef Murtabak &#8211; RM4<\/li>\n<li>Beef Kebab &#8211; RM6<\/li>\n<li>Kuih Koci (4 pieces) &#8211; RM5<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><em>*Calculations are based on the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dosm.gov.my\/cpi_calc\/index.php\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Malaysia CPI Inflation Calculator<\/a> from July 2015 to February 2024.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><\/div><\/div>\n<p>Surprisingly, we were able to find a <em>beef murtabak<\/em> at the same price, making it relatively affordable. The same can\u2019t be said for the <em>beef kebab<\/em> and <em>kuih koci<\/em> as they received a price increase of RM2 and RM3 respectively.<\/p>\n<p>This means that with RM10, we can only buy two of the three items today.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Bangsar\"><\/span>Bangsar<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-62389\" src=\"https:\/\/static.imoney.my\/articles\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/03\/26155055\/Bangsar_Kuih.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"567\" height=\"400\" srcset=\"https:\/\/static.imoney.my\/articles\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/03\/26155055\/Bangsar_Kuih.png 515w, https:\/\/static.imoney.my\/articles\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/03\/26155055\/Bangsar_Kuih-300x211.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 567px) 100vw, 567px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Located behind Bangsar Village 2, the Bangsar Ramadan bazaar continues to provide bazaar-goers with all the favourite foods and drinks that you\u2019ve come to expect at a price that is not as upscale as the Telawi area where the bazaar is located.<\/p>\n<p>Like the TTDI bazaar, there are many newly popular foods, such as lava crab buns that cost RM6.50 a piece and <em>popia bergedil<\/em> at RM5 for four pieces for all you food lovers to enjoy.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-62390\" src=\"https:\/\/static.imoney.my\/articles\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/03\/26155119\/Bangsar_Popia.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"513\" height=\"439\" srcset=\"https:\/\/static.imoney.my\/articles\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/03\/26155119\/Bangsar_Popia.png 513w, https:\/\/static.imoney.my\/articles\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/03\/26155119\/Bangsar_Popia-300x257.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 513px) 100vw, 513px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>What about the foods the writer bought back then and how do the prices compare today? With the current prices, <strong>we can only afford to buy either just the <em>nasi ayam<\/em> or just the drink, but not both<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Bandar-Tun-Razak\"><\/span>Bandar Tun Razak<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Tucked within the suburbs, the Bandar Tun Razak bazaar doesn\u2019t boast as many stalls or fancy new foods as the previous two. But what about the food prices? Are they more affordable compared to the other two? Let\u2019s find out.<\/p>\n<div class=\"block\"><div><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Here are the prices back then:<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Mee goreng biasa &#8211; RM2<\/li>\n<li>Kuih pelita (5 pieces) &#8211; RM2<\/li>\n<li>Curry puff (2 pieces) &#8211; RM1<\/li>\n<li>Onde onde (4 pieces) &#8211; RM2<\/li>\n<li>Tau fu fah &#8211; RM1<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">2015 price adjusted to 2024*<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Mee goreng biasa &#8211; RM2.32<\/li>\n<li>Kuih pelita (5 pieces) &#8211; RM2.32<\/li>\n<li>Curry puff (2 pieces) &#8211; RM1.16<\/li>\n<li>Onde onde (4 pieces) &#8211; RM2.32<\/li>\n<li>Tau fu fah &#8211; RM1.16<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Here are the actual prices:<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Mee goreng biasa &#8211; RM5<\/li>\n<li>Kuih pelita (6 pieces) &#8211; RM5<\/li>\n<li>Onde onde (4 pieces) &#8211; RM4<\/li>\n<li>Tau fu fah &#8211; RM3.50<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><em>*Calculations are based on the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dosm.gov.my\/cpi_calc\/index.php\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Malaysia CPI Inflation Calculator<\/a> from July 2015 to February 2024.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><\/div><\/div>\n<p>Unfortunately, we were not able to find any curry puffs on our visit but even without the curry puffs, it seems like our RM10 wouldn\u2019t be able to buy all of the foods from nine years ago.<\/p>\n<p><em>Mee goreng biasa<\/em> and <em>Tau fu fah<\/em> experienced the highest increase in prices at RM5 and RM3.50 respectively. The <em>kuih pelita<\/em> also increased its prices but you at least get an extra piece at RM5.<\/p>\n<p>So, what\u2019s the verdict? Well, our writer back then said that RM10 can work depending on which bazaar you go to. Unfortunately, that doesn\u2019t ring true today as the bazaars we\u2019ve visited showed that RM10 is barely enough nowadays.<\/p>\n<p>Maybe next year we might need to set the limit at RM20 instead.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Want to save your money during this Raya season?
