The royal wedding, which will last ten days, started with a Khatam Quran ceremony last Sunday.\u00a0 The 10-day event will feature a host of lavish extravagances such as a parade, performances, a pageant, and a banquet.<\/span><\/p>\n

Prince Abdul Mateen, the groom, is the fourth son and tenth child of Haji Hassanal Bolkiah, the Sultan and Prime Minister of Brunei. The Sultan of Brunei is one of Asia\u2019s wealthiest men, and Prince Mateen has always been known as one of the world\u2019s most eligible bachelors in the world.<\/span><\/p>\n

In his interview with <\/span>GQ Thailand<\/span><\/a>, Prince Abdul Mateen described himself as a \u2018simple person\u2019, and was looking for similar qualities in his women.<\/span><\/p>\n

His fiancee, Anisha Isa Kalebic, is the granddaughter of Pehin Dato Isa, the Sultan\u2019s special advisor. According to reports, Anisha is a thriving businesswoman in her own right as well, being the frontrunner of the fashion brand Silk Collective, and a co-owner of a tourism company called Authentirary.<\/span><\/p>\n

Although it\u2019s a worthy candidate for the coveted \u2018wedding of the year\u2019 title, it\u2019s not without its challengers.<\/span><\/p>\n

Other royal weddings scheduled to happen this year includes the seventh Duke of Westminster, Hugh Grosvenor\u2019s and Olivia Henson\u2019s wedding. <\/span><\/p>\n
