Due to the rising number of Covid-19 cases, two politicians have come together to release a joint statement. Ong Kian Ming and Khairy Jamaluddin are calling for the return of Covid-19 precautionary measures. This is to counter the worrying resurgence of Covid-19.<\/span><\/p>\n

The joint statement was released by Ong Kian Ming, the former Member of Parliament from the DAP and Khairy Jamaludin, the former Health Minister and former member of UMNO.<\/span><\/p>\n

In the statement, they congratulated Datuk Seri Dr Dzulkefly Ahmad for his appointment as Health Minister in the recent Cabinet reshuffle. They also urged Dr Dzulkefly to take appropriate measures to prevent further spread of Covid-19.<\/span><\/p>\n

They highlighted that Covid-19 cases had reached a yearly high of 29,129 cases on Dec 11. As such, several urgent measures should be taken as preparation for the coming Covid-19 wave.<\/span><\/p>\n

<\/span>Reinstate TRIIS<\/span><\/h2>\n

The statement then went on to detail several measures that are recommended. The main measure was an urgent call to reinstate the Test, Report, Isolate, Inform, Seek (TRIIS) methodology. TRIIS was in operation at the height of the pandemic.<\/span><\/p>\n

They also recommended that the Ministry of Health (MOH) work together with the Finance Ministry to facilitate a transparent procurement process. This is for the latest variants of the booster vaccine which is available in the market.<\/span><\/p>\n

“At the same time, MOH should start to reactivate the vaccination ecosystem through private and public clinics and hospitals,\u201d they said, Malay Mail<\/a> reported.<\/span><\/p>\n

<\/span>Restart MySejahtera app<\/span><\/h2>\n

Another measure that is recommended is the return of the MySejahtera app to report and monitor Covid-19 patients.<\/span><\/p>\n

And finally, they said that the MOH should also publish the daily statistics of Covid-19 fatalities to remind the public of the severity of Covid-19, especially the new strains of the virus.<\/span><\/p>\n

Covid-19 has slowly crept up in numbers recently, with the number of cases jumping from 6,796 cases two weeks ago to 12,757 last week, with 11 deaths from Dec 3 to Dec 9 alone.<\/span><\/p>\n
