This was made public in a press release issued by the ministry yesterday.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Located at the International Youth Centre (IYC) in Cheras, the facility boasts five dormitories containing 54 beds, a kitchen, a self service laundromat and internet access.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The facility is open for any Malaysian aged from 18 to 40 years old who are either;<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Looking for a job<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Secured a job but without residence<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Undergoing industrial training\/internship\/practicum<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Beds-available-from-15-September\"><\/span>Beds available from 15 September<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>The minister also shared the launch information on her <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/hannahyeoh\/posts\/pfbid0NfMWnZqgDXeWU5NC5rJsd7nGCZJTQb7j4LZgwX46v4nGKiFFRnSfvZED9rYXyX6ml\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Facebook page<\/a> to highlight the initiative and facilities offered at an affordable price.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In a report from <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.freemalaysiatoday.com\/category\/nation\/2023\/09\/13\/hannah-launches-rm10-a-day-hostel-for-youths-job-seekers\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">FMT<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, the Youth and Sports Minister Hannah Yeoh stated that the facility will be available starting from the 15th of September 2023, and will cost only RM10 per day.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cThis programme targets youths who intend to undergo industrial training, are looking for jobs and people who have a job but do not have a place to stay.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cI hope this (initiative) will encourage more youths to get jobs (in the city), particularly those from rural areas,\u201d she told reporters after the launching ceremony yesterday.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Youth-make-up-38-of-the-homeless-population\"><\/span>Youth make up 38% of the homeless population<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">During the launch, Hannah Yeoh shared that the programme managed by IYC began because statistics showed that young people aged between 18 to 30 years old make up 38% of the homeless population in Kuala Lumpur.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cIt is difficult for us to secure funds to build new facilities, so we are utilising existing facilities to implement programmes like this.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cI urge government agencies to create similar facilities for young people,\u201d she said.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The joint press release from the Youth And Sports Ministry and IYC also stated that the
