In an effort to ease the commonplace traffic congestion that usually occurs during the Merdeka Eve celebrations, Rapid Rail, the operator of the MRT and the LRT system has urged visitors to use the LRT and the MRT instead of driving.<\/span><\/p>\n

Rapid Rail\u2019s chief executive officer (CEO) Amir Hamdan said in a statement<\/a> that other than the KLCC LRT station, users can also opt for the MRT Putrajaya Line to KLCC via the Persiaran KLCC MRT station.<\/span><\/p>\n

“The public is urged to use the new facilities that are available at Persiaran KLCC MRT station.<\/span><\/p>\n

“The move helps to reduce the congestion that usually occurs at the KLCC LRT station immediately after the event ends.<\/span><\/p>\n

In the same statement, Amir also added that users can also make use of the \u2018park and ride\u2019 facilities as selected stations.<\/span><\/p>\n

The \u2018park and ride\u2019 facilities allow users to park their vehicles at MRT operated parking lots at an affordable flat rate daily.<\/span><\/p>\n

In order to enjoy the affordable flat rate, users are required to use the same TnG card they used for their MRT\/LRT\/Monorel ride.<\/span><\/p>\n

In preparation for the Merdeka eve and Merdeka day celebrations, Rapid Rail also announced an extension of the operating hours for several selected MRT\/LRT\/Monorel stations.<\/span><\/p>\n

On the Merdeka Eve, the operating hours for the KLCC LRT station, Persiaran KLCC MRT station and eight other stations will be extended until 2am<\/a>, and will resume at 4am for visitors of the Merdeka Day celebrations.<\/span><\/p>\n
