The Selangor Islamic Religious Council (MAIS) has revealed that disputes among family members and heirs are some of the main contributors towards a total of RM70 billion in frozen inheritance.<\/span><\/p>\n

Selangor Islamic Religious Council (MAIS) deputy secretary (operations) Norzaihan Mohd Zain said that the lack of understanding on the management and procedures of inheritance is the main reason for these disputes.<\/span><\/p>\n

Hence this is the reason why she believes it is crucial for Muslims to understand and learn the importance of shariah-based property management which is more systematic.<\/span><\/p>\n

Speaking at the launching of the Inheritance Seminar and Selangor Faraid Month 2023 ceremony at Dewan Syarahan dan Muzakarah Islam, Sultan Salahuddin Abdul Aziz Shah Mosque, Norzaihan also revealed that\u00a0 Selangor had pioneered the introduction of laws on Muslim properties such as the Selangor Waqf Enactment 1999 which was amended in 2015 and the Muslim Wills (Selangor) Enactment 1999 which was later emulated by other states.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

She said so far, MAIS has handled over 3,000 wills and 2,500 grant documents since 2006.<\/span><\/p>\n

“Mais provides planning services and inheritance such as wills, hibah (gifts) and inheritance assets.<\/span><\/p>\n

“I hope we can use MAIS’ platform to implement property management to prevent problems related to conflicts and misunderstandings and further harmonise a family institution,” she said.<\/span><\/p>\n

MAIS\u2019 Inheritance Seminar and Selangor Faraid Month 2023 started earlier this week on the 18th of August, and will run until 15th September 2023.<\/span><\/p>\n

Some programmes that will be implemented during this month include an inheritance seminar, radio shows, and even a Tiktok Live focusing on Islamic Inheritance knowledge.<\/span><\/p>\n
