The International Monetary Fund (IMF) is impressed with the recent reforms that took place in Malaysia and is keen to learn from us.<\/p>\n

IMF managing director Christine Lagarde met with Prime Minister Tun Dr. Mahathir at the 33rd Asean Summit in Singapore.\u00a0According to Lagarde, she and Tun Mahathir discussed about tackling corruption and how to use Malaysia’s experience for the benefit of other countries.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt was a pleasure to meet with PM Mahathir of #Malaysia. We discussed how to tackle corruption, and agreed to work together and learn from Malaysia\u2019s experience for the benefit of other countries,”Lagarde posted on her official Twitter page.<\/p>\n

According to NST, Dr. Mahathir confirmed that the IMF was impressed with Malaysia’s reforms and is keen to learn what the government is doing to improve the situation in Malaysia. IMF is particularly interested to learn the Malaysia government’s approach to tackling corruption.<\/p>\n

\u201cIMF needs our help, because the country has gone from a government that was corrupt to one that is introducing reforms.” an unnamed official told The Star.<\/p>\n

Malaysia made worldwide headlines when the then-opposition party Pakatan Harapan (PH) made history by winning the elections – ending\u00a0Barisan Nasional’s (BN) 60-year grip on power.<\/div>\n
