The Employees Provident Fund (EPF) has warned Malaysians not to fall for a RM6,000 scam that was being circulated on social media.<\/p>\n

A chunk of Malaysians received a message in Bahasa Malaysia which claimed that EPF members who worked between 1990 and 2018 are eligible for a RM6,000 incentive from EPF. The message then directs the recipients to click on the link provided to check if they are eligible for the incentive.<\/p>\n

The link, of course, redirected them to a fake EPF website and encouraged recipients to take part in a ‘survey’. Recipients of the message were also asked to share the message on Whatsapp to ‘share’ this opportunity with their friends and family members.<\/p>\n

EPF suspects that this scam is being used as a method to collect personal data from EPF members.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe EPF believes that this is an attempt to phish for members\u2019 personal data for fraudulent purposes,\u201d\u00a0an official statement from EPF read.<\/p>\n

“We categorically state that the viral message and contents are false and does not come from EPF.”<\/p>\n

“Members are urged not to respond to such surveys nor provide their personal data to any unverified third party, and also not to spread the chain message any further,”<\/p>\n

\u201cAll information about EPF products and services is available on the official EPF website<\/a>.”<\/p>\n
