{"id":30052,"date":"2017-06-16T17:04:30","date_gmt":"2017-06-16T09:04:30","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.imoney.my\/articles\/?p=30052"},"modified":"2018-08-24T00:00:17","modified_gmt":"2018-08-23T16:00:17","slug":"epf-fake-messages","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.imoney.my\/articles\/epf-fake-messages","title":{"rendered":"Watch Out For Messages Claiming To Be From EPF!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Employees Provident Fund (EPF) has warned members of the spread of false messages and scams circulating via the social media, short messaging service (SMS) and WhatsApp applications.<\/p>\n<p>According to a statement from EPF, the false messages sent to members claims that their EPF accounts would be blocked within 24 hours, unless they contacted a given mobile phone number.<\/p>\n<p>EPF further states that official messages from EPF will display a five-digit shortcode as sender identification (ID), and the messages will not be sent to members from a personal mobile number.<\/p>\n<p>There have also been syndicates or agents that had been offering their services via their social media to help members withdraw from their EPF savings in return for a fee. &#8220;EPF does not appoint or endorse any third party to facilitate members&#8217; application for withdrawals. Members who are eligible to make withdrawals from their accounts can deal directly with EPF free of charge,&#8221; it said.<\/p>\n<p>For clarification or further information, members may call the EPF Contact Management Centre at 03-89226000 or visit any EPF counters nationwide.<\/p>\n<p>Members may also refer to EPF&#8217;s responses to false information at <a
