{"id":28235,"date":"2017-02-03T11:26:30","date_gmt":"2017-02-03T03:26:30","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.imoney.my\/articles\/?p=28235"},"modified":"2017-02-03T11:26:46","modified_gmt":"2017-02-03T03:26:46","slug":"higher-dental-charges-first-second-class-patients","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.imoney.my\/articles\/higher-dental-charges-first-second-class-patients","title":{"rendered":"Higher Dental Charges For First &#038; Second Class Patients"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Outpatient dental treatment charges at government clinics will be increased in March 2017, said a Health Ministry circular.<\/p>\n<p>However, the new dental charges will not be applicable for third class patients who cannot afford it.<\/p>\n<p>A message on the hike in charges became viral recently. However, according to Health Ministry director-general Datuk Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah, the message showed the new rates for basic cost of dental treatment for 2017 in Malaysia without subsidies.<\/p>\n<p>The Government was committed to continue subsidising third class patients with 98% of subsidies for medical and dental cost, he added.<\/p>\n<p>The new charges will be applicable for patients who could afford it or those in the first and second class.<\/p>\n<p>The new charges are:<\/p>\n\n<table id=\"tablepress-673\" class=\"tablepress tablepress-id-673 table-head-side table-subhead\">\n<tbody class=\"row-striping row-hover\">\n<tr class=\"row-1\">\n\t<td class=\"column-1\">Treatment\/Procedure<\/td><td class=\"column-2\"><center>Previous rates<\/center><\/td><td class=\"column-3\"><center>New rates<\/center><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr class=\"row-2\">\n\t<td class=\"column-1\">Extractions<\/td><td class=\"column-2\"><center>RM1<\/center><\/td><td class=\"column-3\"><center>RM15<\/center><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr class=\"row-3\">\n\t<td class=\"column-1\">Polishing<\/td><td class=\"column-2\"><center>RM2<\/center><\/td><td class=\"column-3\"><center>RM55<\/center><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr class=\"row-4\">\n\t<td class=\"column-1\">Fillings <\/td><td class=\"column-2\"><center>RM2<\/center><\/td><td class=\"column-3\"><center>RM25<\/center><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<!-- #tablepress-673 from cache -->\n<p>These new rates were supposed to take effect from February 1, but it was delayed until March 1.<\/p>\n<p>A separate statement was also released by Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr S.
